Mikuláš - Entry Form

Mikuláš and his helpers are definitely coming to Dallas. Come to meet them!

Saturday December 10th, 2016, at 4 PM at the Sokol Zizka Hall, the home of the Vaclav Havel Czech School.

Program: Performance of the students of the VHCS, Games, Dance, Craft, Potluck, Gift from Mikulas. After much success the Dallas Czech Orchestra will play again traditional polka and waltzes, starting at 5:30 pm.

The part of the magic is that Mikulas KNOWS things about the child no one else can know. He will ask poignant questions and demand answers for lingering issues during his interview. He will also expect a token of respect. Traditionally, children would sing a CZECH/SLOVAK song or recite a CZECH/SLOVAK poem. Sometimes an occasional shy person could make him happy with a picture. He will accept other displays of a personal skill or an achievement. Parents are always welcome to support their child with their loving presence.

If you wish for your child to speak with Mikulas, fill in this form and submit it by Saturday, November 28th.  One form per child!

Tickets:  $10.00 per child can be payed here via PayPal.

or you can bring a check payable to Vaclav Havel Czech School of Dallas.

Deadline for payments is December 5th , 2015.

We encourage Czech or Slovak.

It is important to us to keep the tradition. This is an unique opportunity to get our children excited and gives us a reason to try harder. Your children will thank you one day for keeping their brains bilingual.

However we have compassion for the fact that there are many 3rd generation Czech and Slovaks whos children might find it hard to understand. In that case you have a couple of options:

If your child doesn't understand, be prepared to translate for him/her. If you need a translator we will do our best to help. If you would like your little ones to have a little practice, feel free to drop in any Sunday morning for Školka class from 10:00 to 11:30 am. We will be practicing many simple Czech songs suitable for such an occasion.

As a courtesy for those who don't speak Czech at home at all, please indicate that on the form and we will set up a group audience for English speakers only.

Please keep it sweet and short. Balance negatives with positives.

Due to a laborious process of preparing Mikulas's book, we will not be able accommodate any late entries. Please respect that this is a VOLUNTEER EFFORT and do your part by sending it on time.

Thank you for your understanding.
